Bell Schedule • Learning Outcomes • Student Classification • Course Load • Grade Weighting • Units of Credit
FRESHMEN are students in their first year of high school attendance or students with fewer than six (6) high school credits.
SOPHOMORES are students who have earned a minimum of six (6) high school credits.
JUNIORS are students who have earned a minimum of twelve (12) high school credits.
SENIORS are students who have earned a minimum of sixteen (16) high school credits.
Students will be promoted to their appropriate classification only after they have earned the minimum credit requirements listed above. Changes in a student's classification will occur in August after the completion of Summer School. The only exception to this policy is the mid-year (January) . . .
- reclassification of first semester seniors who cannot graduate in June.
- promotion of juniors who can demonstrate that they are on a June graduation schedule.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Eligibility for some curricular programs and for some extracurricular activities are linked to the students' classification. Students should see their counselor for clarification of these requirements.
NEW REQUIREMENTS: Classification requirements for the 2014 graduating class (2010 – 11 Freshman) shall strictly reflect successful completion of grade level required English, math, science and social studies to ensure students are adequately prepared for the administration of the State Standardized Test Battery (currently PSAE).
