PTHS 209 Scholar of Excellence—East Student Excels in the Classroom and Beyond

Proviso East senior Jessica Doyle, of Maywood, is a positive force in her school and in the community. Now, as a senior, she’s planning to take her positive attitude, strong work ethic, and Pirate Pride all the way to college.

Doyle maintains a 3.5 G.P.A. She is a member of the National Honor Society, DECA, student council, the marching band, the volleyball team, and the softball team. She also works part time for a popular clothing retailer in Melrose Park. Though Doyle has already opened three college acceptance letters, she is waiting for one from Hampton University. She has been accepted to South Carolina State, Central State, and Virginia State. She has also been offered two academic scholarships. With the support of her parents and her strong work ethic, Doyle says she is prepared. She plans to use Proviso East High School as her launching pad to success.

“All of my academic classes and my extracurricular activities have made my high school life a great experience,” said Doyle. “My AP courses have really prepared me for college. I didn’t have to take them as a graduation requirement, but I took them so that I could be ready. My mother helped me keep my grades up. She always said that grades come before anything. So, I just plan to stay focused and work really hard.“

Ms. Doyle [Jessica’s mother] is proud of her little Pirate. She says a large part of Jessica’s success comes from her having the right attitude.

“Jessica has the mindset to be successful at whatever she does,” she said. ”She is not going to let anything stop her from succeeding no matter what. I just taught her that if she wants something in life, she has to work for it.”

Jessica says she will continue to work hard. She hopes to attend Hampton University to study pre-law. She also plans to join Hampton’s marching band.

Congratulations Jessica! You are a vital part of Proviso Rising.
